Equi-Club Ambassador for CWG's Stamford Store
Emma Sheardown is a world class para dressage rider sponsored by CWG and the Equi-Club.
What is a para dressage? Para dressage riders have some form of physical disability. They perform dressage tests that vary according to the grade of the rider's physical impairment. Dressage is the only equestrian discipline that is included in the paralympics. It is regarded by many as the most glamorous of the equestrian disciplines: a combination of elegance, precision, power and skill. Rider and horse perform a series of set movements in a marked arena. In the case of freestyle the movements, in any order, are performed to music.
Emma has cerebral palsy which affects all four limbs, her balance and co-ordination. This means that she profiled within the sport as a grade 1 rider - a rider with the highest degree of disability. The tests that she performs in competition are all done in walk.
CWG Ltd are proud to sponsor Emma, who lives in Lincolnshire. Her current goals are to represent Great Britain in her chosen sport and to medal at the 2012 London Paralympics.
