In her diary entry from June, after the Norway competition Emma comments that she is,

' now looking for schoolmaster type horse that is working at medium or above to help me progress into the next stage of the selection process '

Having exhausted the possibilities in the UK, the search for a suitable horse eventually took Team Emma over the Channel to Holland in September. The very first horse they looked at was Sylvano V, an 8 year old, 17hh +, light bay Dutch Warmblood gelding.  Sylvano V,  who was actually based just over the border in Belgium, was working at Advanced Medium level and showed his excellent temperament, whilst being trialled, as screaming children and planes overhead did not put him off his stride.  None of the other horses viewed that weekend were suitable and Sylvano V go the job!

Emma describes how she chose Sylvano V his new name, Sam,  in her December diary entry.

Unfortunately, Sam has proved unsuitable for Emma as he has a tendency to 'spook' outdoors which is something Emma cannot cope with.  So with regret Team Emma have had to find him another home.

Emma said, " ... I’m grateful that I’ve had the experience with him. It was always going to be a giant leap from Spider to Sam but how do you know what you can achieve if you don’t try! He is a wonderful horse and I hope that he gets the chance to fulfil his potential with another rider.”
