Emma Sheardown is an amazingly determined person. Having narrowly missed out in the final selections for competing in Beijing she is now focused on qualifying for the London Paralympics and is working hard to attain her goal. She has recently been to the World Class Para Development Squad selection trials and been re-selected back onto the Squad.
She started working seriously towards her goal on Slightly Welton known as Spider back in 2005. To reach the next step up she needed a new partner. Over the winter of 2007/8 she thought she had found the perfect horse in Sylvano V ('Sam') from Belgium. But unfortunately, although perfect indoors he 'spooked' outdoors which is something Emma cannot cope with. She is now trying out an English horse Purdey's Dream ('Ed') and we are all keeping our fingers crossed that he is 'the one'! He seems to be doing very well.
In the meantime, although she has had to sell Spider, he still based at the same yard and so she can still ride him from time to time.
